Work starts on Meadowlands Road intersection
upgrade
Work has commenced on a major upgrade of a dangerous intersection
located at Meadowlands Road, Carindale according to Cr Adrian Schrinner
(Chandler Ward).
The traffic safety improvement project at the intersection of Meadowlands
Road and Wright Street is expected to cost more than $1.5 million.
"The upgrade will help to manage the growing daily traffic
flow being generated by outer-eastern suburbs such as Belmont, Gumdale,
Wakerley and Manly West, Cr Schrinner said.
"At present, motorists exiting Wright Street onto Meadowlands
Road have very limited visibility of traffic approaching from the
right as a result of the raised bridge across the Gateway Motorway,"
he said.
"Poor visibility at the intersection creates a very dangerous
situation where we have near-misses on a daily basis."
"This upgrade can't happen soon enough," Cr Schrinner
said
The upgrade project delivers on yet another election commitment
made by Liberal Lord Mayor Campbell Newman and is part of a record
$18 million investment in the local area.
