South East Brisbane Chamber of Commerce Breakfast Wrap Up
8 June 2007
The SEBCC held another very successful Breakfast at Sunrise earlier
this week. Our guest speaker, Peter Cowley of Peter Cowley Accountants,
Partners and Business Advisors was the guest speaker and gave our
members and guests some valuable information to help them get their
businesses 'tax ready' ahead of 30 June. For those who missed Peter
this morning we will be including a handout from him in the upcoming
SEBCC Newsletter.
Our Business Leader of the Future this month was Kaley Willmott
of Balmoral State High School. Kaley was sponsored by Tania Holmes
of Westpac Morningside and accompanied by Balmoral SHS teacher Sharyn
Laidlaw. The SEBCC is very proud of this program and Kaley was an
excellent example of what the SEBCC is hoping to achieve through
it. Kaley engaged with members and guests prior to the meeting and
addressed those in attendance in a confident and personable manner.
We hope that Kaley took a greater understanding of business and
the role the Chamber plays in the community away from the meeting.
If you know a student who could benefit from being part of this
program, or you would like to sponsor a student, please contact
me.
The Trade Table was hosted by Michael Cullen of Biz 2 Biz Coaching.
Thank you Michael for giving us a greater insight into your business
and how you can help with HR Coaching. The breakfast Trade Table
is a very popular benefit of membership and we have now 'booked
out' for the year. Bookings for 2008 are so to secure your spot
'get in early!'
The SEBCC Breakfasts are now becoming very popular with members
and guests, thanks to all those early birds who are coming at 6.30am
for networking.
Our pre-payment system is also working very well and most of you
are now pre-booking and paying for your breakfast online. This gives
you more time to network and streamlines the registration process.
Could I please ask those who not registering and paying online to
consider using the system and if you have any questions or difficulties
with it please contact me. I also ask that everyone tries to book
on the Friday before the breakfast. Numbers are given to Carina
Leagues Club on Monday mornings and although they and I are happy
to take late bookings anyone with special dietary requirements needs
to get them to me by COB Friday to be guaranteed a special meal
(this includes Continental Breakfasts).
The SEBCC has two events coming up next week. Our regular Women
in Business Lunch at Tonic to be held on Friday 15 June and the
launch of 'Business at Sunset' at Eleven17 (Cannon Hill) on Wednesday
13th June...featuring live coverage of the 2nd State of Origin game!
I look forward to seeing you at one of our events soon and in the
meantime, have a great week weekend.
