Armed Robbery at Carina

A man armed with a syringe robbed the Network Video Store on the corner of Creek Road & Zahel Street at Carina on Saturday night. The man entered the store around 8.10pm and demanded money from the attendant.  The attendant complied and gave the man a sum of cash from the till and the man left the store.  He is described as Caucasion, 25-30, approximately 176cms tall with a proportionate build.  He was wearing a jumper with black & white horizontal stripes & dark pants.  Contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Kickstart to bike venture
Chandler: The Sleeman Centre Motocross, a new venture thought to be the first of its kind in Australia, opens on March 29 at the Chandler Velodrome.
It will offer elite facilities for riders from five years upwards for casual riding or professional coaching and will operate under floodlights five days each week from Tuesdays.
It would place particular emphasis on safety and hopefully attract more riders off public roads and on to the track. ``Various nights will be dedicated for junior, senior and mixed riders from 5-9pm and coaching will be available 10am-4pm,'' Mr Herson said.
Earthworks begin shortly and a series of jumps will be created.

$100,000 for safety improvements at Scrub/Cribb Road roundabout

22 March Mayor blocks 20-storey units in suburban Brisbane
The draft City Shape plan has been at the centre of a political bunfight that erupted when Labor deputy Lord Mayor David Hinchliffe leaked the document to the media. It contained a plan to allow 20-storey residential towers to be built in suburbs such as Carindale, Chermside, Indooroopilly and Upper Mt Gravatt.

New Carindale to UQ bus service
Route 209 will commence between Carindale Interchange and UQ Lakes station. It will travel along the South East Busway via Carindale, Carina, Camp Hill, Coorparoo, Stones Corner, Buranda, University of Queensland. This is effective 19 February 2007.
